So one of the things that I have been always complimented on is my awesome ability to make a mixed CD. Since moving to Colorado, my music appreciation has changed from primarily listening to Top 40 music and some alternative rock. I have branched to listening to more rock music and electronica music. It's amazing how music can really put you in a good mood or help you out when you are having a bad day. My musical tastes have been greatly expanded by making Pandora stations and looking at the random artists that appear and also Seth in my lab who has an extensive music collection.
Some of my favorites right now:
Girlie British Rock:
Adele (of course)
Ellie Goulding (if she is good enough to sing at Will and Kate's wedding, she's good enough for me)
Florence + the Machine (as we say in the lab, every song sung is EPIC)
Imogen Heap (oldie, but goodie)
PJ Harvey: Let England Shake
Rock Music:
AWOLNATION (Megalithic Symphony is an AWESOME album, highly recommend it)
The Naked and Famous, Passive Me, Aggressive You (has a MGMT feeling to it).
We are Young "Fun"
Gotye "Somebody I used to Know" (this song has been stuck in my head for the last week)
Foster the People: Torches (this album is all over the place, but it is really fun to listen to)
The Black Keys: El Camino
Young the Giant: self-titled.
Workout Music:
Girl Talk: Feed the Animals and All Day (great beat to do cardio to)
Super Mash Bros (a little more dirty than Girl Talk)
Feel good music:
2cellos: These two cello players (hence the name) re-invent some classic pop songs, really soothing.
Iz- Somewhere over the Rainbow (my go to song when I am stressed)
Electronica-esque:
M83: Hurry up, we're dreaming. Amazing album. Love "Midnight City"
Caribou: Odessa is a great song
Old standbys:
U2, Coldplay: pretty much anything they made
The Matt's. Matt Nathanson and Mat Kearney
Brandon Flowers: Both with The Killers and his solo album
Guster: BONGO power!
Mumford and Sons
One Republic
Snow Patrol (though I have not listened to their new album, heard mixed reviews)
I miss your mixed CDs :-P (and I miss CD as well... i.e. Carissa Dege!)
ReplyDeleteMay I suggest the BiKuls come out to Colorado sometime in the near future??
